How do you recognise the start of the holiday season?  Is it when you pull out the Christmas Tree and gather the ornaments and decorations?  Or perhaps it’s like us when my husband drags the boxes of fairy lights out of storage and begins to cover the house and yard with all things flickering, merry and bright! Griswald’s watch out!!

The exchange of KK Lists, beginning of advent calendar countdowns, preparing the Christmas pudding or making a Gingerbread House are just some of the markers we can recognise.

It’s the traditions and memories we cultivate over time that makes us wonderfully aware that Christmas is here!

The surprise and delight of gift shopping for those we love can be part of that tradition.  Walking through your favourite store, where every item you see is something you love or a gift that’s perfect for someone you love.  These kinds of finds make Christmas shopping joyful and worth sharing.

Whether browsing online or in person, our Little Cactus team has gathered some of our favourite finds to help point you towards the joy of discovering something unique this season.  We want to help turn your buying experience into a tradition that’s bright and merry, from gifts on a budget to the sky’s the limit, our Christmas Gift Guide covers it all.

Show others how you’ve been listening to them, paying attention to what makes them feel special and choose gifts that make them smile.

For her it could be beauty products that you know will help restore and rejuvenate her after a tiring winter lockdown.  Or maybe it’s a beautiful ceramic dish for her to serve up a favourite salad dish you enjoy together.

For him, you can’t go wrong with gifts that tap into his ways of relaxing.  Maybe the bicycle repair kits because you know he’s been clocking up the k’s to de-stress.  Or a new set of whisky glasses and stones because Friday night drinks are how you hang out together and chill!

For the kids, after months on screens, it could all be about sparking their imaginations again.

Some new buckets/spades or trucks/diggers to get them out in the garden, sandpit and yes yay beach again!  Or games and puzzles to encourage them to play with others, family and friends.

Gifts should be a reminder they are known and loved … you can even include a note that says why …why they matter, why you thought of them and why you hope your gift will add to the magic of the holiday season.
